About this song
This song was first released by American pop band Maroon 5 in 2019.The tune uses a simplified version of Pacabell's "Canon in D Major" by German composer Johann Pachelbel - and it is perhaps this classic pattern which lifts it to a level where it fits into funerals held in a variety of venues.
The song was written by Maroon 5's lead vocalist Adam Levine, working with Stefan Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Michael Pollack, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Jon Bellion, and Vincent Ford. It was inspired by the death of band manager and friend, Jordan Feldstein in 2017, and reflects their experience of losing a treasured friend, as lived in the pop-music world. It had high positions in the weekly pop-charts of many different countries during 2019/2020.
